BOOK ACCOMMODATION

New Zealand Art Show 2010

The 2010 New Zealand Art Show runs from 30 July to 1 August this year at Wellington's TSB Bank Arena, with thousands of artworks on display for purchase.

The New Zealand Art Show - Accessible, Collectible and Affordable.

The 2010 New Zealand Art Show is the place to view thousands of pieces of original art by hundreds of new, emerging and established artists from around New Zealand, all under one roof.

An enormous variety of art styles, genres and mediums including; oil, watercolour, pastel, acrylic, pen & ink, sculpture, glass, photography, mixed media and more will be displayed ranging in price from $100 to $5,000 with the majority around $500.

The New Zealand Art Show, previously the New Zealand Affordable Art Show, is now in its seventh year. Only the name has changed, the event and art is still Accessible, Collectible and Affordable.

It first opened in 2004 after a group of art-loving Wellingtonians created an opportunity for artists from all round the country – new, emerging and established – to showcase and sell their work. Each year about 800 artists are selected to exhibit their works and about 9000 visitors attend.

The gala evening on Thursday 29 July, which has been a sell-out for the past four years, will be open only to Friends of the Trust, sponsors and their guests.  Fine food, wine and entertainment enliven the gala evening at which guests have the opportunity to be first to view and purchase from 3500 works by over 500 selected artists.

Two features of the show are the Single Artist Walls and the Signature Piece Award. Selection for the Single Artist Walls has resulted in 84 artists selected to showcase the full range of their work and to be available to discuss them with the public. The Signature Piece Award will see 10 artworks selected as finalists with one artist winning a grant to further his or her career.

The New Zealand Art Show is proud to be associated with Wellington Hospital and Health Foundation in raising funds for Wellington Children's Hospital.  A special evening will once again be held at the New Zealand Art Show on Friday 30 July from 6.30pm. Tickets are $60 from admin@whhf.org.nz or 04 806 2332.

Art and All That Jazz - enjoy a glass of wine on Sunday afternoon between 12pm and 4pm at the New Zealand Art Show and browse the art whilst listening to jazz band The Velox Brothers.
